The excitement continues to unfold at RoboCup 2026, where the second day of play has concluded, revealing a thrilling showcase of technological advancement and robotics prowess. This year’s humanoid soccer competition boasts participation from teams representing 17 different countries, underscoring the global appeal of this innovative event.
A Geographically Diverse Participation
Representatives from nations as varied as China, Colombia, Malaysia, Germany, and Australia have come together, with China leading the charge. A remarkable 15 teams pulled together from this one country, contributing significantly to the lively competition atmosphere. Each team not only embodies local expertise but also reflects cultural nuances, making the event rich and diverse.
Team Qualifications and Backgrounds
Prior to the matches, each participating team submitted a video presentation, team description, and detailed information about their robots and software. This rigorous vetting process highlights the commitment each team has made toward advancing robotics innovation. Among them, the CAU Mountain&Sea team from China Agricultural University currently stands out, leading the small division competition while holding a commendable fourth place in the larger division.

Robot Specifications: Weights and Heights

Currently, the heaviest robot, ALICE 4 from team HERoEHS, weighs in at an impressive 48 kg and towers at 160 cm tall. This is a notable contrast to the lighter competitors, like Chape, a diminutive robot from ITAndroids, weighing only 3.8 kg and measuring 53 cm. The range in physical attributes adds an entertaining layer to the competition dynamics.
Competition Progress and Division Standings
As the seeding rounds approach completion, the competition intensity has escalated significantly. In the small division, CAU Mountain&Sea stands undefeated with a flawless record of four wins and only one goal conceded, racking up a remarkable 12 points. Following closely are the Hamburg Bit-Bots and GeoHBots, who each have three wins and one loss, showcasing their capability to put pressure on the leaders.
Transitioning to the middle division, B-Human has established an impressive lead, winning all four of their matches and maintaining a goal difference of +35. Meanwhile, four teams are locked in a competitive battle, each with nine points: HTWK Robots, Rhoban, whIRLwind Amsterdam, and THMOS.
In the large division, Tsinghua Hephaestus leads with perfect nine points after winning all three of their matches, while PCMS-HRG and Robo-Erectus each hold two wins with one draw.
